Too long a wait at dinner dates
to wait for you to show.
Too long for you to tell me
that you think our love's gone cold.


Tonight is the night I noticed
that a second is too short.
Too short a time to kiss you
or come up with a retort.

Too short a wait for that parfait
while waiting for you there.
Too short for me to say to you
"Just go, I do not care."
